Birds of a Feather

How you can help

Volunteers Welcome

Any responsible parrot owner knows how just much work is involved in taking proper care of parrots. We love putting the work in, it is very rewarding and enjoyable, especially when some of the little munchkins land on your shoulder to greet you! But it is hard work and time demanding.

So we need more help to lighten the load across the rescue; there are various things that you can do which include feeding, cleaning, proving company and enrichment to the birds, and help to maintain the aviaries and gardens.

We are here for you too; being surrounded by these creatures can help improve your well being, especially as our gardens are beautiful and spacious. Having a chat and cup of tea with like minded people also helps; so everyone, including the birds, gets something positive from being here - a sense of purpose and connection.

If you are a vet or zoology student, or someone interested in birds, please get in touch, as you would be welcome to do some work experience at the rescue.

How you can Help

There are various ways to help out but your time is the most valuable, as the sanctuary needs a lot of work to keep maintained and the birds taken care of. Fresh food needs preparing every day and the enclosures cleaned out.

With many small and large beaks to feed, our residents munch through a lot of fruit, seeds and nuts each week. So donations of food are really appreciated.
